Does Crowdfire Work with Instagram for Business? (2026)
The short answer: no, Crowdfire has shut down
Crowdfire no longer works with Instagram for Business, or with any other network. On 5 May 2025 Crowdfire announced that it "will officially go offline on May 15th, 2025", and that scheduled content would "continue to post until then". After that date, posts stopped going out.
Today, Crowdfire's website shows a single page saying it is "becoming something new, a media platform dedicated to covering the intersection of social media, Web3, and AI". There's no sign-in, the web app and help centre are gone, and the Crowdfire apps are no longer in the App Store or Google Play.
So if your Instagram posts stopped publishing, the connect button doesn't load, or the app has vanished from your phone, there's nothing wrong with your account. The service isn't running.
The rest of this guide covers how Crowdfire's Instagram for Business integration worked, what that means for the tool you move to, and how to make the move without losing a week of posting.
How Crowdfire used to work with Instagram for Business
Crowdfire's Instagram support grew in steps over its last few years. Going by its own product announcements:
| When | What Crowdfire added for Instagram |
|---|---|
| Before 2021 | Notifications only: Crowdfire reminded you on your phone, and you finished the post in the Instagram app |
| October 2020 | A Zapier workaround to publish single images to a professional account |
| February 2021 | Direct publishing of single images and videos, for business accounts only, with a scheduled first comment |
| April 2022 | Carousels of up to 10 images, on paid plans |
| August 2022 | Reels (3 seconds to 15 minutes, up to 100 MB), on paid plans |
| June 2023 | Stories, on paid plans (no stickers; videos 3 to 60 seconds) |
You connected an account by choosing "Continue with Facebook" in Crowdfire's Instagram accounts section. When Crowdfire launched direct publishing, it said it was "available for Instagram business accounts only (because that's an Instagram limitation)". That limitation is the part that still matters.
In its last months, Crowdfire's Plus plan cost under $10 a month for 5 social accounts and up to 100 scheduled posts per account. Premium was about $37.48 a month billed yearly for 10 accounts, and VIP about $74.98 a month billed yearly for 25 accounts with team access.
Why "Instagram for Business" still matters
Instagram only lets outside apps publish to professional accounts, meaning Business or Creator accounts. That's Meta's rule, not any one tool's, so it applies to whatever you use next.
- Business or Creator account: a scheduler can publish your posts, carousels, Reels and Stories automatically.
- Personal account: no scheduler can publish for you. The most a tool can do is remind you to post it yourself.
Switching to a professional account is free and takes a minute in the Instagram app's settings. You keep your followers and posts, and you also get Instagram's own insights.
One thing has changed since Crowdfire's day: you no longer always need Facebook. Instagram now has its own login for apps, so some tools, PostStage included, connect straight to your Instagram account with no Facebook Page involved, and work for Creator accounts as well as Business ones.
Moving off Crowdfire: a checklist
1. Don't wait for an export. With Crowdfire offline, your queue and drafts there can't be recovered. Rebuild from your own files: the photos and videos on your phone or drive, and your past captions, which are still on Instagram.
2. Check your account type. Make sure each Instagram account is Business or Creator before you connect it anywhere.
3. List the formats you actually post. If you post Reels, carousels and Stories, pick a tool that publishes all three automatically, not one that sends Stories as a phone reminder.
4. Connect through the official login. Every legitimate scheduler connects through Instagram's or Meta's own sign-in screen. Never give a tool your Instagram password.
5. Recreate your hashtag folders. If you used Crowdfire's Hashtag Manager, save those groups again in the new tool so you can drop them into a caption or first comment with one click. (Check Instagram's current hashtag limit before you do: it's 5 per post now, not 30.)
6. Schedule the next two weeks first. Don't try to rebuild a month. Get the next 14 days on the calendar, then fill it in as you go.
7. List the extras you used. Beyond scheduling, Crowdfire offered its Hashtag Manager, Instagram analytics, best-time suggestions and, on Premium and VIP, Instagram DMs in its inbox. Check that the new tool covers the ones you relied on.
What to use instead
Plenty of schedulers publish to Instagram professional accounts. For a former Crowdfire user, the questions are whether it auto-publishes every format you use, whether it fits your budget, and whether it covers your other networks.
PostStage is a scheduler built in India that publishes to 16 networks from one composer. For Instagram it covers:
- Feed posts, carousels of up to 10, Reels with a cover frame you choose, and Stories, all published automatically
- A first comment posted right after the post goes live, on every plan, Free included
- Collab posts with up to 3 co-authors
- Saved hashtag groups (Starter and above)
- A suggested time to post based on your own account's past engagement, on every plan
- Your audience by country, city, age and gender, plus views, likes, comments, shares and saves on each published post (Starter and above)
Posts go out at the exact second you schedule them. You connect with Instagram's own login, with no Facebook Page needed, and Business and Creator accounts both work.
On price, PostStage's Free plan covers 1 account and 15 posts a month. Starter is ₹499 a month (₹399 billed yearly) for 15 accounts and 60 posts per account a month, paid in rupees by UPI, card or net banking. That's three times the accounts Crowdfire's Plus plan had, for less. Outside India it's $6 a month. Starter and Pro come with a 14-day free trial, no card needed.

Frequently asked questions
Is Crowdfire coming back? Not as a scheduler, as far as Crowdfire has said. Its website describes it as becoming a media platform about social media, Web3 and AI, and it has no sign-in or app.
What happened to posts I had scheduled in Crowdfire? Crowdfire said scheduled content would keep posting until 15 May 2025. Anything scheduled after that didn't go out.
Can I get a refund from Crowdfire? In its goodbye post, Crowdfire said it had emailed subscribers with details about their subscription, recent payments and refunds. Look for that email in the inbox you used for Crowdfire.
Does Instagram for Business cost money? No. Switching to a Business or Creator account is free.
Do I need a Facebook Page to schedule Instagram posts? It depends on the tool. Crowdfire connected through Facebook. PostStage connects with Instagram's own login and needs no Facebook Page.
Can any tool post to a personal Instagram account? Not automatically. Instagram only allows that for professional accounts.
