Hootsuite for Agencies: Is It Worth It in 2026?

Hootsuite calls itself "the no. 1 social media management tool for agencies". It's certainly one of the best known, and many agencies started on it. The question for an agency in 2026 isn't whether Hootsuite is good. It's whether its pricing fits the way agencies work: several people, many client accounts, and clients who want to approve posts before they go live.

Here's what Hootsuite costs an agency today, what you get at each level, and when it's worth the money.

There is no Hootsuite agency plan

Hootsuite has an agencies page, but no plan made for agencies. You buy the same plans as any other business, and they're sold per person. In Hootsuite's words, "Hootsuite plans are sold per user (or "seat")".

Prices, per user per month, billed yearly (in US dollars):

PlanPrice per userSocial accountsPost approvals
Standard$9910No
Professional$199UnlimitedNo
Advanced$399UnlimitedYes
EnterpriseCustomUnlimitedYes, plus external approvals

Monthly billing costs more per user. There's a 14-day free trial without a card, though trial accounts have daily posting limits and can't use bulk scheduling. There's no free plan.

For visitors in India, Hootsuite shows rupee prices that are much lower than the dollar ones: about ₹1,999 per user a month for Standard, ₹3,999 for Professional and ₹7,999 for Advanced, billed yearly. Check what your own browser shows before you budget.

What a small agency actually pays

Take an agency of three people (an account manager, a content writer and a designer) running social for six clients, with three or four networks each. That's around 20 social accounts, and clients who expect to see posts before they go out.

  • Standard won't fit. It covers 10 social accounts, and has no approvals.
  • Professional covers the accounts, not the approvals. Three seats at $199 is $597 a month, billed yearly.
  • Advanced is where approvals start. Three seats at $399 is $1,197 a month, about $14,364 a year. At the Indian price it's about ₹24,000 a month.

Add a fourth person and you add a fourth seat at the same price. That's the main thing to understand about Hootsuite for agencies: the cost follows your headcount, not your client list.

What agencies get, plan by plan

On every plan: publishing and scheduling, a calendar, one inbox for comments and messages, the Wisdom AI writing assistant, Hootbio (one link-in-bio page per person), recommended times to post, and the Bulk Composer for uploading up to 350 posts from a CSV file.

Professional ($199) adds: unlimited social accounts, customisable reports and templates, 30 days of social listening search (7 days on other plans), benchmarking against 20 competitors (5 on Standard), and DM automations.

Advanced ($399) adds: post approval workflows, your logo on reports, assigning inbox messages to teammates, and emailing reports to people outside Hootsuite.

Enterprise (custom) adds: external approvals, full social listening with Lumen by Talkwalker, and Parliament for employee advocacy.

Three things to check before you sign

1. Client approvals aren't what the agency page suggests. The agencies page says: "With external approvals, you can easily get the go-ahead from clients before you hit publish." But Hootsuite's help centre lists external approvals as Enterprise only, and describes them as a "Mark as approved" button for when "your organization's approval process happens outside of Hootsuite". Clients don't log in and approve. Your team records that they did. Internal approvals between teammates start on Advanced.

2. "White-labeled reports" means your logo. The agencies page promises "fully customizable, white-labeled reports". What Hootsuite documents is adding your own or your client's logo to reports, on Advanced and Enterprise. There's no documented option for your own domain or for removing Hootsuite's name everywhere.

3. Moving down a plan is hard. Hootsuite's help centre says that to go "from an Advanced plan to a Standard plan, you will need to delete your existing Hootsuite account and sign up for a new one." If you're not sure which plan you need, start low and move up, not the other way round.

When Hootsuite is worth it

Hootsuite earns its price when:

  • Your clients are large brands who expect social listening, competitor benchmarking and deep analytics as part of the retainer.
  • You need networks and formats a smaller tool doesn't cover, such as LinkedIn company pages and X as standard.
  • You bill enough per client that $399 per team member is a small share of the fee.
  • Your clients already use Hootsuite and want you in their workspace.

When it isn't

It's harder to justify when:

  • Most of the work is publishing. If the job is a reliable posting schedule across each client's Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile, you're paying for listening and analytics layers you won't use.
  • You're growing the team. Every new hire costs another seat.
  • You need approvals but not Enterprise. Approvals start at $399 per person.

What a publishing-first agency tool looks like

PostStage is a scheduler built in India for this second kind of agency, and it's priced the other way round: by plan, not by person.

  • Pro is ₹999 a month (₹799 billed yearly), or $12 outside India, for 30 social accounts, 200 posts per account a month and 10 team seats.
  • Approvals are included. Members draft and submit; managers approve, reject with notes, or reschedule, one at a time or in bulk. Rejected posts go back to the writer marked "Needs revision".
  • Clients can watch without editing. Invite a client with the Viewer role and they see what's coming up without being able to change it.
  • Reports carry your logo. Export posting history and engagement as Excel, CSV or PDF, with the columns you choose.
  • Each client's accounts keep their own timezone, so a Dubai client's post goes out at 9 AM Dubai time.
  • Posts go out at the exact second you schedule them, across 16 networks, with an activity log of who did what.

It doesn't have Hootsuite's social listening or competitor benchmarking, LinkedIn company pages aren't supported yet (personal profiles are), and X is a paid add-on. If those are central to what you sell, Hootsuite is the better fit.

For the three-person, six-client agency above, the difference is $1,197 a month on Hootsuite Advanced against ₹999 on PostStage Pro, with seven seats to spare.
