7 Hootsuite Alternatives for Marketing Agencies
Agencies leave Hootsuite for the same few reasons. It's priced per person, so every hire raises the bill. Post approvals only start on the Advanced plan, at $399 per user a month billed yearly. And a lot of what that price pays for, such as social listening and enterprise analytics, isn't what most agency clients are paying for.
Here are seven tools agencies use instead. Prices are each tool's own listed prices in US dollars, billed yearly unless we say otherwise, checked on their websites in October 2026.

1. PostStage: for publishing-first agencies, priced in rupees
Best for: small and mid-sized agencies whose main job is getting every client's posts out on time, especially in India.
PostStage prices by plan rather than by person. Pro is ₹999 a month (₹799 billed yearly), or $12 ($9 yearly) outside India, for 30 social accounts, 200 posts per account a month and 10 team seats. Enterprise is a custom quote for more.
- Approvals included: members draft and submit; managers approve, reject with notes or reschedule, one at a time or in bulk. Rejected posts return to the writer marked "Needs revision".
- Client visibility: invite a client with the Viewer role to see upcoming posts without editing them.
- Reports with your logo as Excel, CSV or PDF.
- 16 networks, each account in its own timezone, with posts going out at the exact second you schedule them.
- Comment-to-DM on Instagram, built in.
- Billing in rupees by UPI, RuPay, net banking or card.
Watch out for: no social listening or competitor benchmarking, no LinkedIn company pages yet (personal profiles only), and X is a paid add-on. Clients can see posts but don't approve them inside PostStage.
2. SocialPilot: the most accounts for the money
Best for: agencies with many client accounts that want client approvals and white-label reports without per-seat pricing.
SocialPilot's plans are flat per tier: Essentials $25.50 a month (7 accounts, 1 user), Standard $42.50 (15 accounts, 3 users), Premium $85 (25 accounts, 6 users) and Ultimate $170 (50 accounts, unlimited users). Visitors in India see separate rupee plans: Standard at ₹1,700 a month billed yearly for 10 accounts and 1 user, and Premium at ₹5,100 for 30 accounts and 3 users, paid by card or PayPal.
- Content and manager approvals from Standard; client approvals and unlimited client seats from Premium
- White-label reports from Premium, full white label on Ultimate
- Social inbox from Standard; AI assistant on every plan
- 10 networks, including Google Business Profile and Bluesky
Watch out for: client features start at Premium. There's a 14-day free trial but no free plan.
3. Vista Social: approvals clients can do without logging in
Best for: agencies that want clients to approve from a link, plus review management for local businesses.
Plans are Professional ($99 a month, or $950 a year: 15 profiles, 2 users), Advanced ($199, or $1,910 a year, about $159 a month: 30 profiles, 3 users) and Scale ($449, or $4,310 a year: 70 profiles, 4 users).
- Single-step approvals on every plan; multi-step approvals and client approval through a shared calendar link, with no login, from Advanced
- Branded PDF reports from Advanced; your own domain for the dashboard from Scale
- A link that lets clients connect their own profiles, from Scale
- Review monitoring for Google Business, Facebook, Yelp, Tripadvisor and others, with replies on Google and Facebook
Watch out for: users are capped at 2 to 4 per plan. Vista's entry price rose: the cheapest current plan is $99 a month, or about $79 billed yearly.
4. Agorapulse: an inbox-heavy all-rounder
Best for: agencies that handle a lot of community management and want white-label reports on every plan.
Agorapulse is priced per user: Standard $79, Professional $119 and Advanced $149 per user a month billed yearly, each with 10 social profiles (extra profiles $10 a month each).
- White-label reports on every plan
- A social inbox and an AI writing assistant on every plan
- Simple approvals, "to teammates or clients", from Professional; shared calendars for outside reviewers from Advanced; multi-step approval chains on Custom
- 10 networks, including LinkedIn company pages and Google Business
Watch out for: per-user pricing again, and 10 profiles per plan before extras. Agorapulse ended its free plan on 6 July 2026; the trial is 30 days.
5. Sendible: unlimited users and client dashboards on every plan
Best for: agencies with many people, or clients who want their own login.
Sendible prices by workspace (each with 6 social profiles) and includes unlimited users on every plan: Core $29.75 a month billed yearly (1 workspace), Plus $84.15 (3 workspaces, 18 profiles), Premium $169.15 (7 workspaces, 42 profiles) and Elite $254.15 (15 workspaces, 90 profiles).
- Client Connect and client dashboards on every plan: clients see and approve only their own content, and connect their accounts without sharing passwords
- Assigning posts for approval from Plus; custom approval workflows from Premium
- Branded reports with no Sendible name from Premium; a full white-label dashboard as a paid add-on on Elite
Watch out for: no Pinterest. Profiles come in blocks of 6 per workspace, so plan by client count.
6. Planable: built around feedback and approvals
Best for: agencies whose biggest headache is the review loop with clients.
Planable prices per workspace, one per client, with unlimited users: Basic $33 a month billed yearly (4 social pages, 60 posts a month) and Pro $49 (10 pages, 150 posts). The first 50 posts are free, with no time limit.
- Approver accounts are free, so clients don't cost a seat (they do need a Planable account to approve)
- Optional approvals on Basic, required approvals on Pro, multi-level approvals on Enterprise
- Posts shown as they'll look, with comments on each one
Watch out for: the inbox, analytics and listening are paid add-ons per workspace, and costs add up with each client. No Bluesky.
7. Buffer: simple, and priced per channel
Best for: small agencies with a handful of clients who want something their team learns in an afternoon.
Buffer's Team plan is $10 per channel a month billed yearly, with unlimited team members. Essentials is $5 per channel for a single user.
- Approvals on Team (one step: the owner or a full-access user approves drafts)
- Branded reports with your logo on Team
- A community inbox and AI assistant on every plan
- 12 networks, including Mastodon, Bluesky and Google Business Profile
Watch out for: per-channel pricing grows fast once a client roster reaches dozens of channels, and there's no client approval or white label.
What about Sprout Social?
Sprout Social is often named as the Hootsuite alternative, but it isn't cheaper. It's priced per seat, from $79 (Essentials) to $399 (Advanced) a month billed yearly. Approvals start on Professional at $299 per seat, and approvals by clients without a login on Advanced. It's an excellent tool for large brands, but it solves the same pricing problem Hootsuite has.
How to choose
- Mostly publishing, small team, India-based or rupee budget: PostStage.
- Lots of client accounts and you need client approvals: SocialPilot or Vista Social.
- Clients need their own logins and you have a big team: Sendible.
- The approval loop is the bottleneck: Planable.
- A few clients, simple needs: Buffer.
- Clients pay for social listening and enterprise reports: stay on Hootsuite, or look at Sprout Social.
Whichever you pick, run one real client through the trial for two weeks: connect their accounts, schedule a fortnight of posts, and send one round of approvals. That tells you more than any comparison table.
