Does RecurPost Work with Instagram for Business?
The short answer
Yes. RecurPost publishes to Instagram professional accounts, and it's built around one thing most schedulers don't do well: putting your evergreen posts back out on a schedule. How much it can do for you depends on your account type:
- Business account: feed posts, Reels and Stories all publish automatically.
- Creator account: feed posts and Reels publish automatically; Stories come to your phone as a reminder.
- Personal account: everything comes to your phone as a reminder.
Everything below is from RecurPost's own website and help centre, checked in October 2026.
How to connect Instagram to RecurPost
In RecurPost, open Social profiles in the sidebar, click + Connect profiles, then the Instagram tile. You get three options:
- IG Business via Facebook: you log in with the Facebook profile that manages the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account.
- IG Business without Facebook: you log in on Instagram's own page.
- Personal profile: reminder-only posting.
A note on Facebook Pages. RecurPost's own pages disagree here. Its Instagram page offers a "direct Instagram login (no Facebook Page required)", while a help article updated in September 2026 says "Linking a Facebook Page is required for Instagram accounts in order to post directly through RecurPost." The Facebook route also unlocks Reels audio (see below). If direct publishing fails on the Instagram-only route, connect through Facebook.
What RecurPost can publish to Instagram
Feed posts and carousels, with a scheduled first comment.
Reels. You can upload a cover image and add music from Instagram's licensed library, with sliders for the track and your video's own sound. The music needs the Facebook connection: without it, "the Reel will publish with your video's original audio only." RecurPost's help pages give different maximum Reel lengths (60 seconds in one, 90 in another), so check before uploading a long one.
Trial Reels. An optional switch on one-off posts from the web app, shown to non-followers first, for accounts Instagram has made eligible (at least 1,000 followers).
Stories, from Business accounts. Instagram doesn't let outside tools add questions, polls, links, stickers or music to a Story, and RecurPost can't add a caption to one.
Tags. Account mentions, people tags on feed posts and Reels, up to three collaborators, product tags and location tags.
The part RecurPost is known for: recycling
RecurPost's libraries put your posts back out on a schedule, and that works on Instagram too. A few things are specific to doing it there:
- First comments recycle with the post. You can add a first comment to a library post, and update the first comment on every post in a library at once.
- Repeats count as new posts. In RecurPost's words, "repeated posts are treated as new posts by platforms", so they count toward daily limits.
- Use a big enough library. RecurPost warns that "a library with only 5 or 6 posts repeats too quickly" and recommends at least 20 evergreen posts, with caption variations and expiry dates so the same post doesn't keep coming back unchanged.
- Instagram's spam filter can block a repeat. If you see the "anti-spam mechanism triggered" error, RecurPost's fix is to change the caption or the picture.
Some Instagram features (cover images, Trial Reels) are described for one-off posts. RecurPost doesn't say whether they work on library posts.
Limits to know
- Posts per day: RecurPost's own caps are 10 posts per profile a day on Starter, 20 on Personal and 80 on Agency. Instagram has its own daily cap on posts published by apps, and whichever is lower applies.
- Reconnecting: for accounts connected through Facebook, "FB expires the token every 60 days", so expect to reconnect now and then. Switching your Instagram account to Personal also disconnects it.
- Analytics are for Business accounts only.
- No link-in-bio page. RecurPost says so itself.
Common errors, and RecurPost's fixes
| What you see | The fix RecurPost gives |
|---|---|
| The account won't connect | Link your Facebook Page to your Instagram Business account, log in with a Facebook profile that's an admin of that Page, and grant every permission |
| "Error validating access token" | Reconnect the account and grant all permissions again |
| "Creator IG User profiles are not supported" | Switch the account back to a Business account |
| A collab post failed | The collaborator needs "Allow tags from everyone" in their Instagram settings |
| "Instagram anti-spam mechanism triggered" | Change the caption or the picture, then post again |
What it costs
RecurPost has no free plan. Starter is $9 a month for 2 social accounts, Personal $25 for 5, and Agency $79 for 20 accounts and 3 users, with two months free on yearly billing. Every plan has a 14-day free trial without a card, and a social inbox, best-time suggestions and Instagram DM automation.
Is RecurPost right for your Instagram?
Yes, if you have a library of evergreen posts (tips, testimonials, product highlights) that you want to keep in rotation on Instagram and other networks, and you run a Business account linked to a Facebook Page.
Look further if you're on a Creator account and post Stories often, want to post without a Facebook Page, or mostly post new content rather than repeats.
An alternative for Creator accounts
PostStage connects with Instagram's own login, with no Facebook Page, and auto-publishes posts, carousels, Reels with a cover you choose, and Stories for Business and Creator accounts alike, with a first comment on every plan. Its recycling is simpler than RecurPost's: Evergreen repeats send a published Instagram, Facebook or TikTok post out again every 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, with optional AI rewording. It's free for 1 account; Starter is ₹499 a month (₹399 billed yearly), or $6 outside India, for 15 accounts.

Frequently asked questions
Does RecurPost work with Instagram Creator accounts? Partly. Feed posts and Reels publish automatically; Stories come to your phone. One of RecurPost's error messages also tells Creator accounts to switch to Business, so a Business account is the safer choice.
Do I need a Facebook Page to use RecurPost with Instagram? RecurPost's pages disagree. Its Instagram page says a direct Instagram login needs no Page; a newer help article says a linked Page is required to post directly. Reels music needs the Facebook connection either way.
Can RecurPost recycle Instagram posts? Yes. Library posts repeat on the schedule you set, first comments included. Use at least 20 posts per library so repeats don't come round too quickly.
Can RecurPost post Instagram Stories? From Business accounts, yes, without stickers, links, polls, music or a caption. Creator and personal accounts get a reminder instead.
Does RecurPost have a free plan? No. It has a 14-day free trial on every plan, with no card needed.
